Driver arrested on DUI suspicion after hitting utility pole

A suspected drunk driver reportedly rolled over and hit a Southern California Edison pole on Laguna Canyon Road early Tuesday morning, police said.

Laguna Beach Police received reports of a rollover crash near the Alternate Sleeping Location at 1:58 a.m., said Special Investigations Officer Robert Rahaeuser. When they arrived at the scene, the driver was outside the vehicle.

Officers contacted the driver and arrested him on suspicion of DUI.

Edison was contacted and came out to repair the pole. Officers assisted by controlling traffic, which was restricted and slowed.

Police arrested two more suspected drunk drivers while assisting in the area, Rahaeuser said.
