It’ll be supercalifragilisticexpialidocious

Children won’t need a spoonful of sugar to get them to the library in July.

The Newport Beach Public Library and Segerstrom Center for the Arts is hosting a children’s event with the cast members from “Mary Poppins” the musical at 2 p.m. July 21 in the Central Library Friends Meeting Room, 1000 Avocado Ave.

The musical, which plays July 14 through Aug. 8 in Segerstrom Hall, brings the Disney movie of the same name to the stage with “A Spoonful of Sugar,” “Feed the Birds” and the tongue-twister “Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious.”

Children will get to meet actor Steffanie Leigh, who plays Mary Poppins, and other cast members, learn about their theater experiences, and hear the actors read from the original book, “Mary Poppins,” by P.L. Travers.

There will be trivia, photos, time to ask questions and children can learn to spell supercalifragilisticexpialidocious.
