‘Girls Night’ out at Playhouse

“Girls Night: The Musical” is a funny performance that follows five female friends as they remember the memories they’ve shared and confront their current lives — all during karaoke night.

It opens May 17 at the Laguna Playhouse, 606 Laguna Canyon Road. It runs until June 5.

Council looks for Sept. 11 memorial artist

Laguna Beach artists are competing to create the recently approved 9/11 memorial, which will feature two metal beams from the Twin Towers.

Submissions are due by May 20.

Palette to Palate on May 21.

The art and dining event at the Laguna Art Museum, Palette to Palate, is kicking off May 21.

Staglin Family Vineyard Estate is the winery partner this year. Owners and art collectors Shari and Garen Staglin will be there to share their wines with attendees.

Studio Executive Chef Craig Strong is working with Montage chefs to create a four-course dinner. The food will be played up by the array of participating artist work, such as Guillermo Bert, Todd Brainard, Brenda K. Bredvik and Dennis Hare among others.

Space is limited to 100 so buying tickets in advance is recommended.

Museum ends exhibit

The Laguna Art Museum’s current exhibit, “Extract: Developing Exhibitions Inspired by the Collection,” will come to a close Sunday.

It has been at the museum since Feb. 27.

Just like the name, “Extract” pulls lesser known artists, that they believe have made a imprint on the art world, from their collections and puts them on display in one-person shows within the exhibit.
