School nominated for blue ribbon honor
A Fountain Valley school was one of 33 California schools to be nominated for national recognition.
The state superintendent of public instruction nominated Ethan B. Allen Elementary School, 16200 Bushard St., for the National Blue Ribbon Program.
The program honors elementary and secondary schools that show academic superiority and significant student achievement progress since 2006. The schools must also serve economically disadvantaged students.
Ethan B. Allen was one of four schools in Orange County recognized. It is part of the Garden Grove Unified School District, which serves 47 elementary, 10 intermediate, seven high, and two adult continuation and special education schools.
The schools will find out in September if they will be honored.
