Second holiday benefit to focus on comforts

COSTA MESA — Councilwoman Katrina Foley plans to host her second annual Holiday Soiree & Benefit to benefit the hungry this week at Mesa Restaurant.

Foley began the event last year to help Orange County’s Second Harvest Food Bank.

This year, she said, is about bringing the comfort of home to the unfortunate, especially to children.

“I’m trying to bring warmth and food for people in need,” she said.

She’s asking everyone who comes to donate one healthy, non-perishable meal and, if possible, new or gently worn coats.

The Costa Mesa High School cheer team and the Costa Mesa Police Department are helping Foley collect the food and coats. There will also be a container at Mesa to drop food and coats.

Last year’s event raised more than 300 pounds of canned food for second harvest.

Tickets are $75. To purchase a ticket, visit https://www.katrinafoley.com or pay at the door.

The event is scheduled from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Mesa, 725 Baker St., Costa Mesa.
