Man found floating in Three Arch Bay
Dispatchers received a frantic 911 call from a security guard reporting a swimmer in distress off of Three Arch Bay beach on Wednesday, according to police.
The caller told them he had tried to rescue the swimmer, but the man, identified as Taylor Patrick Blanco, 22, of San Juan Capistrano, had gone underwater and was no longer visible as of 5:40 p.m.
Public safety personnel searched the area until darkness fell, according to a news release.
The search resumed at 6 a.m. Thursday, with several lifeguards diving in the area where the Blanco was last seen. At 7 a.m., Blanco’s body was found floating in the water off of Three Arch Bay.
Rescuers brought his body to shore and the Coroner’s Office was notified, according to the release.
No foul play is suspected. The swimmer was in the water with a friend at the time of his disappearance. They had been doing a beach run-swimming exercise routine that started in the Salt Creek Beach area of Dana Point.
Family members have been notified of the death.
