Casey Heather Nunan June 4, 1976 - July 5, 2010

Casey Heather Nunan, age 34. Casey died July 5, 2010 in Cedar City, Utah.

Casey was born June 4, 1976, in Newport Beach. She is the loving daughter of Nancy and Bill Nunan of Paragonah, Utah. She attended San Diego State University. She grew up in Lake Forest and moved with her parents and sister Kelly to Costa Mesa in 1990. Casey most recently resided in Hemet, Calif., where she worked as an instructional aid in the math department at Diamond Valley Middle School.

Casey absolutely loved her job, where she met and fell in love with a fellow math teacher. Her love for Dave Parker was complete in every way. They were a match made in heaven.

Casey was a lifelong Girl Scout. Casey and Kelly were in their mother, Nancy’s, troops from Brownies through Seniors. Kelly and Casey were very close throughout their lives. They were truly best friends in every sense of the word. In school, Casey played soccer, softball, volleyball and basketball. She was an active member of the Newport Beach Assistance League and served at the hospital and thrift shops for the assistance of others. She loved to help whenever and wherever she could be of assistance. Her love of sports translated in her love for cheerleading. She was a cheerleader and song leader at Newport Harbor High School. She was so good at calling cheers, the varsity coach singled her out for special recognition at the annual football banquet. With Dave, they loved to be with friends and attend major sporting events and cookouts. Casey was a lifelong camping enthusiast and enjoyed many vacations with her parents and sister over the years.

Casey is survived by her loving parents and her sister Kelly. Her two aunts, Joanie of Colorado, and Juge of Huntington Beach, will miss her very deeply. Her extended groups of cousins and friends live throughout the western states. Casey was a friend to all and had extensive networks of long-time friends whom she contacted on a regular basis. The wonderful people of Paragonah have taken Casey to their hearts over the years and have been simply wonderful during this difficult time. Their love and support have been a real blessing to the family.

Casey’s family members wish to thank the staff and patrons at Rusty’s Steakhouse for all their efforts to save her life. The Iron County Paramedics and EMTs were fantastic. The Cedar City Police officer who stayed with the family throughout the ordeal was a great help to all of us in the grip of such tragedy.

We know that Casey has joined her grandparents in heaven and is keeping an eye on all of us as we move forward. It’s comforting to know we will all be together someday.
