Police are expected to release information today about a man who may have been involved in the death of a 23-year-old woman found in his Costa Mesa apartment over the weekend.

The woman, an Irvine resident, was found dead with a serious head wound inside the bedroom of a fourth-story apartment at Camden Martinique, 2855 Pinecreek Drive, a complex across the street from Orange Coast College, police said.

Authorities have declined to identify the woman or the man. An employee at the complex said police considered the tenant as the main suspect in her death. It’s not clear whether police have spoken with him.

About 9:20 p.m. Saturday, police went to the apartment after someone called and said a woman inside may have died.

Serena Nguyen, who lives in the apartment below, said friends of the woman were not able to reach her all day Saturday. Nguyen said her mother reported hearing the woman arguing with someone the night before her body was found, but heard nothing else the rest of the night or the next day.

The one-bedroom apartment remained sealed with police tape Tuesday afternoon with a bicycle locked to the railing just outside the door.

Police have not taken anyone into custody.
