The Corona del Mar, Newport Harbor and Sage Hill boys’ tennis teams will attempt to advance to the CIF quarterfinals as they play second-round matches today at 3 p.m.

Only the Sailors are at home. Newport Harbor (12-7), coming off a dramatic 10-8 upset victory over Dana Hills, will face Woodbridge in a Division I second-round match. Newport will again be the underdog after losing to the Warriors, ranked No. 10 in the final Division I poll, during a nonleague match in the regular season.

The Sailors are led by Tracy Beblie at No. 1 singles and the strong doubles teams of Jason Cernius and Troy Arnold at No. 1 and Craig McKennon and Greg Brostek at No. 2.

Corona del Mar, the No. 3 seed in Division I, hits the road to tangle with Dos Pueblos of Goleta. The Sea Kings (16-2) are coming off a 16-2 thrashing of Capistrano Valley as Ryan Peyton and Shane Korber each swept their three singles sets.

Dos Pueblos was the third-place qualifier out of the Channel League.

Sage Hill will also be on the road, at Los Padres League champion Santa Ynez, in the second round of the Division IV playoffs. The Lightning (8-10) had strong singles play in a 16-2 first-round victory over Hemet, as Andrew Kurzweil and Alex Manolakas each swept their sets.

Sage Hill has made the CIF quarterfinals each of the last seven years. This year’s quarterfinals are scheduled for Tuesday.
