Costa Mesa police schedule another DUI checkpoint
Costa Mesa police will conduct a DUI checkpoint on Newport Boulevard on Friday night.
From 8 p.m. Friday to 2 a.m. Saturday, police will be stationed at Newport Boulevard and Flower Street stopping vehicles and checking for drivers under the influence or without a valid license.
DUI checkpoints are used primarily for education to the dangers to drinking and driving and to remind the public that police are out there, officials said.
A checkpoint last week on Harbor Boulevard resulted in four arrests.
Funding for the checkpoint was provided by the state Office of Traffic Safety.
