Annual run to benefit Marines

The 3/1 Marines Foundation is hosting its second annual “3/1 Run” to support the Marines on March 13.

The 5K run/walk fundraiser will support the 3rd Battalion, 1st Marines. Huntington Beach adopted the “Thundering Third” in April 2005 and has supported them through the foundation with care packages, events and programs to support the Marines and their families.

The fundraiser will begin at 8:30 a.m. in the parking lot at Beach Boulevard and Pacific Coast Highway. Participants will head north to 10th Street and back, and medals will be awarded to the fastest runners in each age group.

Before the race, 50 Marines will run cadence from the starting parking lot to Pier Plaza. The Huntington Beach Firefighters Assn. will serve breakfast for a $5 donation. The proceeds will go toward the foundation.
