Young musicians to play in Haiti benefit

Middle College High School senior Samantha Smith and the Young Singers of Orange County choir will perform a concert in Newport Beach to benefit Haitian earthquake victims.

The singers will perform Jazz for Haiti: A Fundraiser for Haitian Relief at 4 p.m. Sunday at St. Mark’s Presbyterian Church, 2200 San Joaquin Hills Road.

Tickets will be available at the door and will cost $15 for adults, $10 for seniors and $5 for students. All proceeds will go to Haitians via UNICEF.

Samantha, a noted local singer and songwriter, founded the nonprofit Young Singers choir for her senior project at school. The singers perform at schools, hospitals, elderly-care facilities and community events.
