Birthday bingo party held monthly

The National Charity League is sponsoring a monthly Birthday Celebration Bingo event at the Susi Q Senior Center, 380 Third St. All are welcome to an hour of bingo, prizes, light refreshments and birthday free of charge from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. the third Wednesday of every month in the Game Room.

Dance club now forming

The Susi Q is looking for people who like to dance and want to avoid the bar scene to form a new Dance Club and have social dances with a variety of music for mature dancers in the Susi Q’s Great Room. Singles and doubles are welcome. Call (949) 497-2441.

Ballroom dancing on Mondays

From 2 to 3 p.m. Mondays, the Susi Q hosts a ballroom dancing class. Singles and couples alike are welcome. Instructor Candi Davis provides instruction on a variety of dances; from quick to slow to Latin. The cost is $5 per session. For more information, call (949) 497-2441.

Basic computing class offered

Marianna Spoelder will teach the basics of Microsoft’s XP Operating System from 1 to 3 p.m. Thursdays in March and April at the Susi Q. The class includes an introduction to word processing, how to add and remove words and paragraphs, how to copy and paste, the correct use of the mouse and file management. Students will also be shown how to surf the Internet and use Google as a search tool. The fee is $10 per session.

Intrepid Travelers plan Bowers trip

The Intrepid Travelers will take a bus trip to the Bowers Museum to see a photo exhibit on Oceania, with masterworks from the three cultural regions of Micronesia, Melanesia and Polynesia. The trip leaves from the Bus Depot at 9:30 a.m. March 24. Prices for adults are $12 and for seniors $9, including bus fee plus gallery entrance fee. The trip returns to Laguna between 3 and 3:30 p.m.

Sign up for free tax preparation help

The Susi Q is offering free tax preparation to the community beginning this week. IRS-trained volunteers will be available to give basic tax help to those with middle to low incomes who file simple tax returns, with special attention given to seniors 60 and older.

AARP’s tax-aide volunteers are trained to assist with filing the 1040 form and the more standard of the schedules, including Schedules A and B. Taxpayers with complex tax returns are advised to seek paid tax assistance. All returns will be filed electronically with no charge to the taxpayer.

Tax assistance is offered at 9:15, 10:15 and 11:15 a.m. Wednesdays and Thursdays through April 15. Call (949) 497-2441 to schedule an appointment.
