MLB All-Star FanFest:

Tickets went on sale Tuesday for the 2010 Major League Baseball All-Star FanFest and Taco Bell All-Star Sunday, featuring the XM All-Star Futures Game and the Taco Bell All-Star Legends & Celebrity Softball Game in Anaheim.

Hall of Famer and Angels legend Rod Carew will serve as spokesperson for 2010 MLB All-Star FanFest.

Major League Baseball All-Star FanFest, a baseball amusement park, will make its first visit to Anaheim and will occupy over 450,000 square feet of space at the Anaheim Convention Center. The five-day event will serve as the launch for MLB All-Star Week, which will culminate with the 81st MLB All-Star Game, to be held July 13 at Angel Stadium of Anaheim.

Taco Bell All-Star Sunday showcases many of the top Minor League prospects during the XM All-Star Futures Game. To date, 61 players including Zack Greinke, Josh Hamilton, Ryan Howard, CC Sabathia and David Wright, have competed in both the XM All-Star Futures Game and the MLB All-Star Game. The 2010 Taco Bell All-Star Legends & Celebrity Softball Game, which features stars from film, music, television and entertainment teaming up with former Major Leaguers and former Angels stars, follows the conclusion of the XM All-Star Futures Game.

Ticket prices for Taco Bell All-Star Sunday range from $50 to $110.

MLB All-Star FanFest opens July 9 and runs through July 13. The five-day event is the world’s largest interactive baseball fan event and features more than 40 baseball attractions and exhibits.

Among MLB All-Star FanFest’s attractions are life-sized video batting and pitching cages, clinics from Major League legends, free autograph sessions with former Angels, MLB legends and Hall of Famers, memorabilia and more.

Rod Carew, who will make a variety of appearances on behalf of MLB All-Star FanFest, was one of the most talented hitters in Major League history. When he was voted into the Hall of Fame in 1991, he was only the 22nd player selected on the first ballot. He was selected to 18 consecutive American League All-Star teams while playing for the Angels and Twins. A native of Panama, Carew had 3,053 career hits and won seven batting titles, a figure surpassed only by Ty Cobb, Tony Gwynn and Honus Wagner. He had a .328 lifetime batting average and hit over .300 in 15 consecutive seasons. Carew and Willie Mays are the only players ever to be Rookie of the Year (1967), Most Valuable Player (1977), have 3,000 hits and be voted into the Hall of Fame. He was named winner of the Roberto Clemente Award in 1977 for his accomplishments on the field, his sportsmanship and his community involvement.

“The 2010 MLB All-Star FanFest will provide more than 100,000 baseball fans with an opportunity to have a special All-Star experience,” Carew said in a press release. “I’m excited to be a spokesperson for All-Star FanFest, where fans of all ages can enjoy a wide variety of interactive baseball events.”

All Major League Baseball All-Star FanFest attractions are free with the price of admission, and the only additional event costs are for concessions and memorabilia. Tickets are $30 for adults and $25 for children 12 and under (children two and under are admitted free), senior citizens and military personnel.

Tickets for Major League Baseball All-Star FanFest are sold on a timed-entry basis, providing fans the ability to reserve the day and time of their choice. Major League Baseball is also offering several discount options, including discounts of $5 off each ticket purchased as part of a Major League Baseball All-Star FanFest Family Pack; these packs are sold in ticket denominations of four and up.
