Among the various artistic groups under the umbrella of Laguna Beach’s Gallimaufry Performing Arts organization is one encompassing the stars of the future.

The Generation GAP is an educational program operated by the parent group and is a self-producing teen theater company.

These young people will take the spotlight Saturday when Gallimaufry Artistic Director Steve Josephson hosts the fourth annual fundraising benefit celebration at his home, 1685 Del Mar Ave.

This year’s theme is the Annie Moffat’s St. Valentine’s Day Ball, named after the party attended by the characters in “Little Women” — which just happens to be the upcoming Generation GAP production.

“Our goal is to provide our local youth the opportunity to experience and learn all aspects of theater,” Josephson said. “These areas include producing, directing, performing, designing, managing, fund raising and project management.

“These life skills will benefit the participants in any field of study they wish to pursue,” he noted.

Saturday’s benefit, which is scheduled from 4 to 7 p.m., will feature entertainment, food, beverages, a raffle and a special presentation highlighting the next GAP production of “Little Women.”

Tickets are $30 per person and $50 per couple, and are tax-deductible.

Those planning to attend have been asked to make reservations to Kami Henderson at (949) 735-1999 or [email protected].
