Woman claims officer hit her car
A Corona woman has filed a claim with the city for car damage and personal injury after allegedly being rear-ended by a police officer at a red light.
Susana Vargas, 46, filed a claim Jan. 25 for more than $4,000.
Vargas was driving her 2007 gold Toyota Sienna on Slater Avenue when she stopped at a red light on Beach Boulevard on Nov. 27, according to the claim. She pulled forward to make a right turn, but stopped to yield to oncoming traffic, and the officer crashed into her vehicle, according to the claim.
Her car had minor damage, and Vargas suffered pain in her lower back and later her left shoulder, according to the claim.
