NEWPORT BEACH — Brittany Harris scored three goals to help the Sailors clinch at least a share of the Sunset League title Wednesday.
Kate Klippert and Veronica McLean added two goals each. Klippert, Kailyn Obenauer and Kaleigh Gilchrist had two assists each, while Madison McLaren led Newport Harbor (17-3, 4-0 in league) with four steals.
Sailors goalie Krissy Burger had nine saves.
Newport Harbor will play against Esperanza today at 3 p.m. at Irvine High to open the Irvine Southern California Championships.
The Sailors will need to beat Esperanza Feb. 10 to win the Sunset League title outright.

ANAHEIM — Chad Seeber and Clay Friend had 10 points each for the Sailors in the Sunset League game Wednesday.
Austin Bagby added nine points for the Tars (11-12, 3-4 in league). Esperanza is also 3-4 in league.
Newport Harbor visits Los Alamitos Friday at 6 p.m.

COSTA MESA — Senior Connor Metcalf scored 16 points for the Mustangs in the Orange Coast League game Wednesday.
Junior Hugo Contreras had nine points for Costa Mesa (2-23, 0-7 in league).

NEWPORT HARBOR — Sophomore Jesus Diaz (119-pound division) won by pin in 41 seconds and was one of four winners for the Sailors in the Sunset League dual match Wednesday.
Junior Ryan Cerrato (152) earned a 12-3, major-decision win, senior Nathan Dickey (171) won, 11-10, and senior Rene Escolero (215) won by injury default.
Newport (5-10, 0-5 in league) will compete in the Sunset League finals Saturday at Marina High.
