Fallen tree leads to claim
A Huntington Beach resident filed a claim with the city today citing damages to her car and demanding a new tree when one fell on her car during last week’s storms.
Natalie Lowry, 24, is asking for $5,000 for vehicle repairs, a car rental and $600 for a replacement tree. A claim is the precursor to a lawsuit.
Lowry’s 2008 Honda Element was parked on the street outside her house when a strong wind snapped a tree on city property in half and it fell on the hood of her car, according to the claim.
The tree smashed the hood, dented fenders and cracked the windshield, according to the claim.
The city wouldn’t be immediately reached for comment.
