Man accused of punching store clerk
A 43-year-old man who police say is homeless was arrested after allegedly punching a store clerk about 9 p.m. Jan. 22 outside a shop in the 800 block of Glenneyre Street, Lt. Jason Kravetz said.
The suspect, Matthew Mark Lang, wasn’t allowed in the store, and when he entered, the clerk asked him to leave, Kravetz said. Once outside, Lang turned around and allegedly punched the clerk in the eye and fled. Officers arrested Lang in the 100 block of St. Ann’s Drive. He was arrested on suspicion of battery and possession of a concealed 10-inch dagger, which police allegedly found hidden underneath his clothing.
The clerk did not require medical treatment. Lang was held in Orange County Jail on $20,000 bail, according to jail records.
Woman bitten in fight outside bar
A 21-year-old Los Angeles woman was arrested on suspicion of assault and battery after allegedly biting a woman’s arm in a fight outside a bar in the 600 block of South Coast Highway at 11:50 p.m. Jan. 23, Kravetz said.
Officers were on patrol when they came across a fight between two women in front of the bar, Kravetz said. They broke up the fight and determined the aggressor was Eleeshera Ruth Lew, who was taken into custody. Police allege Lew bit the arm of the female victim because she was upset at the victim and her husband due to something that happened inside the bar.
Man, 29, held in cannabis case
A 29-year-old Thousand Oaks man was arrested at 12:39 p.m. Monday after officers pulled his vehicle over at Irvine Cove and North Coast Highway and allegedly smelled marijuana, Kravetz said.
The vehicle, a Dodge pickup was displaying 2010 registration tabs, but the DMV computer stated that the registration expired in 2009. Smelling marijuana, officers asked the driver if he had any marijuana in the vehicle, and he allegedly showed them a shoebox full of marijuana. After a search, Paul Thomas Boggiano was arrested of suspicion of possession of concentrated cannabis, a felony, and possession of less than an ounce of regular marijuana, a misdemeanor. He was held on $20,000 bail, according to police records.
Alleged sunglasses shoplifter arrested
A Mission Viejo man was arrested on suspicion of petty theft after allegedly swiping a pair of $315 sunglasses from a shop in the 200 block of Ocean Avenue and running out the door, Kravetz said.
The suspect, Robert Lee Boyer, 20, was located an hour later on South Coast Highway. Boyer was also charged with public intoxication by prescription pills.
