City offers sandbags during rain
Huntington Beach residents worried about flooding can pick up free sandbags from the city.
All residents must bring shovels to fill their own bags and show identification and proof of residency. A utility bill will suffice.
Bags weigh about 20 pounds dry and double that when wet. Elderly and disabled residents can have sandbags delivered to their homes by calling the fire department’s CERT message line at (714) 536-5974.
Bags can be filled from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday to Friday at the City of Huntington Beach Corporate Yard at 17371 Gothard St. For more information on flood preparedness, go to www.readyoc.org.
