Man pleads not guilty to drug possession
A Huntington Beach man pleaded not guilty to driving without a license with more than a pound of marijuana and several ounces of methamphetamines in his car.
Bruce Guiver, 46, was pulled over for talking on his cell phone, but officers discovered he had an outstanding warrant and drugs in his car, along with tear gas and a stun gun, when they arrested him Jan. 6, Lt. Russell Reinhart said.
Guiver was charged with one felony count each of possession for sale of marijuana and possession of controlled substance with intent to sell and misdemeanor counts of possession of controlled substance paraphernalia, illegal possession of tear gas, possession of a stun gun and driving without a valid license, according to court documents.
He was driving without a valid license when officers pulled him over at Brookhurst Street and Villa Pacific Drive for talking on his cell phone, Reinhart said.
Guiver had an outstanding warrant in Butte County for transportation of a controlled substance. He was arrested without incident, Reinhart said.
Guiver is expected to begin preliminary trial 8:30 a.m. Friday in Courtroom W-15 at the West Justice Center in Westminster.
