Wade honored for lobbying efforts
Robert Wade, a Laguna Beach landscaper and director of legislation for the California Landscape Contractors Assn., received a 2009 leadership award for his political involvement regarding immigration and water conservation issues on a national and regional level. The award, recognizing exceptional leadership qualities and accomplishments in the landscape industry, is given annually by Lawn & Landscape Magazine. Wade was honored for his involvement in promoting numerous bills addressing immigration reform and the state-wide water crisis.
Wade worked with the EPA WaterSense program, helping to get politicians to recognize the importance of promoting outdoor water conservation and in making July national “Smart Irrigation Month.” He also helped achieve the association’s support in the California legislature for AB370, which increases the maximum criminal fines for unlicensed landscape contractors.
“As a volunteer leader, Bob has put a tremendous amount of energy, passion, and time into CLCA’s legislative program, especially the effort to support a comprehensive solution to the nation’s immigration laws,” said Larry Rohlfes, assistant executive director for the CLCA. “CLCA’s membership is looking forward to next year, when Bob will hopefully lead the association to more political successes in his new role as president-elect.”
In operation since 1979, Wade Landscape is a full-service landscape company committed to creating and maintaining quality and sustainable landscapes. Wade received a degree in political science from UC Santa Barbara and a degree in horticulture from Cal Poly Pomona. For more information, call (949) 494-2130.
