Police Files:
Four Fontana men were arrested Tuesday after they were found driving in Newport Beach’s Newport Heights neighborhood about 3:45 a.m. Police stopped the vehicle because of the tinted windows, said Sgt. Evan Sailor. The officer asked if he could search the car and the driver agreed, he said.
The officer looked in the trunk and found several car roof racks still wet with dew.
Each roof rack was valued at $300, Sailor said. The men then admitted to taking them off cars on the Balboa Peninsula.
All four men have since pleaded not guilty to three counts of grand theft each.
