Cyclist airlifted out of Crystal Cove
A 50-year-old man was rushed to Mission Hospital over the weekend after he was airlifted out of Crystal Cove State Park, where he had crashed from his bicycle, authorities said.
Capt. Greg McKeown of the Orange County Fire Authority said the man was riding with a friend on Rattle Snake Trail more than a mile north of El Morro Elementary School, when he toppled over his handlebars and injured himself about 9:30 a.m. Sunday.
Given where the man crashed, it would have been too difficult to bring in vehicles to drive him out, McKeown said.
So OCFA, with the help of the Laguna Beach Fire Department, airlifted the man out.
