NAC finishes strong

The Newport Aquatic Center started the fall rowing season strong.

The varsity boys’ four of Ryan Box, Rory Kew, Garrett Pickard and Cameron Zachary, and with coxswain Michael Delahanty, placed third last month in Boston in the Youth Fours Men Division at the Head of the Charles Regatta, considered the largest race in the world.

Racing against 76 other high school teams from around the world in intense rain, snow and cold temperatures, the Newport boat was just seconds behind two Canadian teams. The Newport boys’ four placed higher than any other United States youth crew team in their division.
