Police Files:
She probably would’ve preferred a parking ticket.
In a $3,000 act of vandalism, someone scratched and hit an 81-year-old local woman’s car parked in the 3800 block of East Coast Highway on Monday afternoon.
Police logs show that the woman had parked her car in the area and left it about 1 p.m. and didn’t come back until at least 6 p.m. Some street parking in the area is for one hour only.
When the woman returned to her red 2007 Audi A4, she found a note on her windshield possibly explaining the scratches, crunched bumper and damaged tail light: “How can you park here for eight hours? We have laws!”
