Burglars hit four vehicles overnight
Police are investigating a series of overnight vehicle burglaries in a Newport Beach neighborhood between Wednesday and Thursday.
Authorities said at least four vehicles were burglarized near Poppy and Seaview avenues and thousands of dollars in property was taken.
Officers found four vehicles, including two Land Rovers, a Volvo and a 2008 Mercedes E350, with smashed windows and the inside of the vehicles ransacked.
The incidents happened between about 3 p.m. Wednesday and 8 a.m. Thursday, said Sgt. Evan Sailor.
Burglars didn’t take anything from two of the vehicles, but they took a watch, backpack and cash worth about $3,450 from one 2005 Land Rover in the 300 block of Poppy Avenue. The other also had a window smashed and about $90 worth of CDs stolen, Sailor said.
Police said a fifth vehicle was burglarized, but details were not immediately available on its loss.
