IRVINE — Hailey Senske had 10 kills to help lead the Sea Kings to a 25-14, 25-14, 25-20 Pacific Coast League win Thursday.

Sydney Brombal and Morgan Boukather had three aces each, Madie Smith had 27 assists, while Katelyn Baker and Amanda Nickel had four digs each for CdM (17-3, 8-0 in league).

LOS ALAMITOS — The Sailors were without starters Rebecca Arnold, Alex Aiello and Ricki Archie because of the flu in the Sunset League match that was called after 17 sets due to darkness Thursday.

Samantha Stalder swept at No. 1 singles, 6-3, 6-0, 6-1, for Newport Harbor (12-4 overall, 8-1 in league). The Sailors’ No. 3 singles player Blake Bakkila, who was also ill, won two sets.

Newport plays host to Marina Monday at 3 p.m. with a chance to win the league title outright. The Sailors beat the Vikings, 17-1, earlier this year.

IRVINE — Melanie Powers won, and was one of five Sea Kings who finished in the top eight Thursday at Mason Park, where the CdM girls came in first with 23 points.

Powers finished in 17 minutes, 7.07 seconds. Marisa Cummings came in second in 17:28.39. Kristina Funahashi was fifth in 17:55.27. Sarah Keddington took seventh in 18:11.27 and Shelby Perez was eighth in 18:17.72.

The CdM boys were third. Beckman won and University was second. Austin Barvin led the Sea Kings, finishing in sixth in 15:26.73. Derek Satterfield (15:32.75) was ninth and Sebastien Welch (15:38.06) was 10th.

COSTA MESA — Senior defender Lauren Rojas scored for the Sailors in the Sunset League match to end the regular season Thursday.

Rojas’ goal came with five seconds left in the first half. Marina scored with two minutes left in regulation.

Senior forward Claire Ramser played hard the entire game and senior center midfielder Lauren Grupe senior center midfielder contributed with her passing, Newport Coach Devon Kelly said.

The Sailors (11-2-1, 8-1-1 in league) open play in the Los Angeles Field Hockey Assn. Tournament of Champions Monday.
