Elaine Knickerbocker Williams
The Williams Family of Corona del Mar,
CA is saddened to announce the passing
of Elaine Knickerbocker Williams at home
with her family on Thursday, October 8,
2009, after a long battle with pancreatic
cancer. She was 72.
Elaine was born on July 12, 1937 in Long
Beach, CA. Her early years were spent
in Santa Ana, CA, where she graduated
from high school in 1955. She attended
Whittier College, graduating in 1959 with
her Teaching as well as her Speech and
Hearing Credentials. She taught elementary school in Anaheim and
later in Corona del Mar until her son was born.
A devoted wife and mother, she was always there when her family or
friends needed her. She will be remembered for her care and love for
others.
Elaine’s hobbies revolved around her family and her beloved
Newport Harbor. With her husband Rick, she cruised the west coast
extensively on their boat, Festival, venturing deep into Mexico
and as far north as Skagway, AK. She also enjoyed her family’s
memberships in the Balboa Yacht Club, Newport Harbor Yacht
Club and Cruising Club of America. A particular joy was music,
speci6cally their annual Dixieland Jazz Cruise, various Jazz Festivals
and Thanksgiving Day spent with family and friends listening to
Dixieland. She did love entertaining at home, in fact, during her last
hospital stay she was known to offer appetizers to her visitors.
An active member of Hoag Hospital Auxiliary for
approximately 20 years, Elaine was a long-standing, active member of
the Orange County Philharmonic Society, as well.
She was predeceased by her parents, C. B. and Frances
Knickerbocker of Santa Ana and Balboa Island.
Elaine is survived by her husband of 50 years, Eric P. Williams,
her son Russell Williams of Newport Beach, daughter Katherine
Green (Paul) of Fort Collins, CO, and her sisters Leone Brockman
(Leonard) and Anne Fenton (Everett) of Laguna Beach, CA. She is
also survived by four beautiful grandchildren.
She had a wonderful and ful6lling life and will be missed by all
who knew her.
