Sage Hill vs. Viewpoint

Key Lightning: Sr. RB-LB Dusty Orrantia (346 rushing yards and three TDs on 66 carries); Sr. QB Andy Multari (120 rushing and 55 passing yards last week); Sr. TE-DE Connor Gaughan (six catches, 129 yards, three TDs).

Breakdown: Week 2 of the four-week get well tour continues for the Lightning (3-1), who entertain the Patriots (0-3) in a nonleague game. Sage Hill, ranked No. 10 in the CIF Southern East Valley Division, is without junior quarterback Randall Mycorn (separated shoulder) and senior center-linebacker Brendan Killaly (sprained knee). Sage aims to continue to win as it eventually replenishes its roster ... Multari, a converted receiver, filled in capably for Mycorn. Multari rushed for 120 yards and a TD on 11 carries and completed three of five passes for 55 yards and another TD in last week’s 43-6 trouncing of Silver Valley of Yermo ... Viewpoint of Calabasas has averaged just 12 points this season and the Lightning defense is allowing just fewer than 17 per contest ... Orrantia has been a catalyst on both sides of the ball.

Costa Mesa vs. Ocean View

Key Mustangs: Sr. C Travis Whitlock; Sr. LB Brian Waldron; Sr. RB Tyler Sheffner (182 yards and two TDs on 40 carries)

Breakdown: The Mustangs (2-2) have won back-to-back games … Last week’s 24-16 victory against Santa Ana was Costa Mesa’s first against a team with a winning record in Coach Jeremy Osso’s four years … Sheffner had a career day last week, carrying the ball 28 times for 136 yards and one touchdown … Quarterback Todd Davis has recorded strong outings the last two games as the offense has scored in eight straight quarters … Ocean View (1-2) has averaged three points in its last two losses. The Seahawks’ offense has only one touchdown this season.

Magnolia vs. CdM

Key Sea Kings: Sr. LB-FB Alex Swigert; Sr. RB-SS J.D. Abbott (497 yards and five TDs on 57 carries); Sr. QB Michael Borchard (seven rushing TDs)

Breakdown: CdM (3-1) looks to bounce back after losing its first game of the season last week, falling, 37-7, to Newport Harbor in the Battle of the Bay game … The Sea Kings, ranked No. 5 in the CIF Southern Section Southern Division poll, should improve on last week’s 78 yards rushing and 99 yards passing … Magnolia (0-3) has struggled offensively, averaging eight points per game … Defensively, Magnolia is allowing 28.3 points per game … CdM defeated Magnolia, 26-6, last year ... Magnolia Coach Dave Perkins coached at Estancia and Costa Mesa.
