Majors division

Rays 5, Angels 4: Tucker de Camp had a grand slam and the winning RBI double, driving in all five runs as the Rays came from behind.

The Angels led off with a home run by Gordie Bailie and scored three more runs in the first to take a four-run lead. Then in the bottom of the fourth inning de Camp hit a grand slam to tie the score. Ryan Smith shut the Angels out for the next five innings. In the bottom of the sixth, Tommy Blood led the inning off with a walk. He then moved to second on a passed ball, before de Camp came through again with a double down the line.

Cubs 4, Giants 1: Sean O’Toole pitched a scoreless four innings for the Giants. Clay Morris and Noah Davis pitched for the Cubs, holding the Giants to just one run. With a score of 1-0 going into the sixth inning, Daniel Marquez of the Cubs hit a solo home run to tie the game in the sixth. Garrett Williams and Jonathon Cooper both had singles to left field and then Jordan Kirkenslager hit a three-run home run to win the game.

Minor B division

Angels 10, Diamondbacks 8: Shane Hammer hit a double and had three RBIs for the Angels. On the Diamondbacks side, Curren Mirtle hit two doubles with an RBI. In addition, Ryan Cook and Mark Mays also doubled for the Diamondbacks.

Yankees 15, Dodgers 8: Yankees pitcher Grant Guinasso had six consecutive strikeouts over two innings to go along with his two doubles as lead-off batter.

Juniors division

Huntington Valley Yankees 4, Westminster 2: Westminster was held to two runs by a strong defensive showing from the Yankees. Don Pierce pitched a complete game for the Yankees, including eight strikeouts.

Kyle Johnson, Jaycen Watson, Kyle Crossen, Kyle Williams and Noah Nelson all had hits for the Yankees. Blake Kirkenslager had two singles and Pierce had a double.

Majors division

Cubs 7, Angels 5: The pesky Cubs regained their winning form this week by defeating the Angels in an exciting game that featured plenty of hitting and timely defense. The Cubs struck early in the game when Parker Melfi airmailed a two-run homer deep into the stands off of a solid Angels pitching staff that is not known for surrendering runs. Joe LaCasto had a great day at the plate with timely run-scoring hitting, and Andreas Galarza’s bat came to life with a rocket shot up the middle which drove in a run. Young Nick Mulachy also got on base with a single and eventually scored to lead the charge to seven runs.

Cubs pitcher Brandon Ezell went three innings and gave up only one run. Hunter Jackson, Ryan Moore, Corey Hawk and Jason Mayorga teamed up for solid defense on the corners, with a notable catch by Moore in right field which saved two runs from scoring. The defensive highlight of the afternoon came when Cubs catcher Matthew Rolfes rifled a throw to third baseman Max Melfi to stop Angels star Chad Minato from stealing the base.

Minor A division

Express 13, Redwings 8: The Express led the game from the start on the way to securing their sixth victory of the season. Brad Vega and Jake Cramer each went three for four with two RBIs. Other key Express hitters were Dylan Carter, James Carter and Grant Rockefeller, who all went two for three. Express pitching was provided by Ryo Takada, Cramer, Cameron Prohaska and Ryan St. Pierre.

Farm division

Mustangs vs. Aztecs: The Mustangs got off to an exciting start with Slater Miller fielding a ground ball and tagging first base for an out. A heads-up play from Owen Wessel, fielding a ground ball at shortstop and running to third base, got the runner out.

On offense, Macean Carr started an inning with a base hit for a single. Noah Madas and Jack Ellis both got hits and were great on the bases to score. Joey Gentilella battled and got a hard hit to shortstop. Jack Taugher had two great hits to third base and had no trouble getting to first base with his wicked speed. Nick Madole continues to play great with his offense and defense. It is great to see his head in the game and it pays off with his hits to the fence.

Kailia Utley played first base like a champ. She stopped the ball from hitting the Aztec fans. She is one to get dirty with great slides home.

Matt Scully had a few great hits to the outfield. Kai Marden had a few great hits also and his mom has to use “spray-n-wash” for his pants because he is a great slider.
