Women’s Festival scheduled for May 16
“Over the gate of an ancient castle in France is the motto, ‘Plus est en vous’ (There is more in you). There are infinite resources and powers within us if we will only search them out. Let us affirm this over and over to ourselves. Words of wisdom written by Helen Keller that so eloquently encourages us to search and affirm the magnificence that is within all of us. On Saturday May 16, 2009, the 7th Annual Women’s Festival (www.womensfest.net) will present an opportunity for women of all ages to join and to celebrate the phenomenal woman that they are.
Three generations of Women are gathering at the beautiful Rose Center Theater complex in Westminster, California. Moms can share this day with their Moms and their daughters coming together to engage in a dialogue about issues that are of concern to today’s women and to enjoy themselves at the variety of activities provided. Lunch is included with an adult ticket (children’s admission is free, lunch tickets will be available for purchase). Music, entertainment and many shopping opportunities are located on the patio throughout the day. It all ends with everyone coming together on the patio for a rockin’ concert .
The Women will be guided through the day by the fantastic talent of emcee Bethany Owens, “The Women of a Thousand Voices”. World renowned, inspiring and best-selling author Dr. Terri Cole Whittaker is the keynote speaker starting the day with her talk “Will the Real You Please Stand Up”. The afternoon key note speaker will be NBC Today Show’s relationship expert, Dr. Brenda Wade. Following these talks will be a variety of sessions addressing some pertinent topics of the day. Dr. Felice Gersh, Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology, USC Keck School of Medicine will speak on “Stress and Women’s Health”; Cappi Pidwell a leading expert in human behavior as a Master of NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming), will teach on “Empowering You in Any Economy”; Noted author Patty Hansen, co-editor of the Chicken Soup of the Soul Series will share her insights from the latest edition Chicken Soup of the Soul: Divorce and Recovery.
The young girls, ages of 8 through High School Seniors (18), are invited to participate in “Uniquely Me- Inside and Out”, a program designed for specifically for them in collaboration with The Girl Scouts of the USA.
The talents of many local and nationally recognized stars will be featured on the patio stage. Among the lineup is the award winning songwriter Ali Handel whose work has been featured on TV shows such as “Sex in the City,” “Joan of Arcadia,” “Dawson’s Creek. Live! Magazine says “she’s a kick ass guitarist, electric and acoustic, a la Chrissie Hynde meets ani difranco meets Prince.” Ms. Erin Barton, who will be opening for Academy and Grammy award winning songwriter/artist Paul Williams in his upcoming Las Vegas show, will be signing the Festival’s theme song, Women in The Moon, which was written by Paul Williams and Kenny Asher. The heartfelt music of another of southern California’s talented singer, songwriter Melissa Lewis will also be featured. The day will come to a joyful end with a concert by OC’s girl band, Girls Nigthout Band.
