Luxury-car dealership says it will donate to schools

A new donation program set up by Newport Beach-based Fletcher Jones Motorcars will give a portion of proceeds from car sales to schools.

The concept is modeled after an airline frequent flier program. When customers lease or purchases a new or used Mercedes, they can choose a school they want to support.

Each transaction generates 100 points for that particular school. Once a school reaches 1,000 points, or 10 cars, a $1,000 check will be sent to the school’s parent teacher association. Any school can qualify and there is no limit to the amount of money each school can earn.

Fletcher Jones sells between 8,000 and 9,000 Mercedes each year, so local schools could stand to gain a significant chunk of money from the program, according to the dealership.
