Y-3 opens first West Coast store at Fashion Island

Started in 2002, Y-3 is the most influential collaboration in sport and fashion to date. The collaboration between renowned Japanese fashion designer Yohji Yamamoto and the authentic spors brand adidas has revolutionized the industry, creating a new category in fashion. adidas represents spsort, Yohji Yamamoto represents design, both symbolize true craftsmanship, and together they have developed the future in sportswear. The “Y” stands for Yohji Yamamoto, the “3” represents the three signature adidas stripes and the “-” signifies the link between the two.

Since September 2004, Y-3 has opened stores across Asia, Europe and the U.S. The Fashion Island store is the 5th U.S. location and first on the West Coast. It has been designed to follow the global signature retail concept which is characterized by its contemporary white, black and organe minimalist style. Two large glass facades add a very aerial element to the 2,220 square foot space.

Y-3 Fashion Island offers the women’s and men’s collections along with footwear and accessories. The current Spring/ Summer 2009 collection and the upcoming Autumn/ Winter 09-10 collections both reflect bold simplicity and confidence, ensuring that Y-3 will continue to define the future in sportswear.
