McKenzie, Patricia (Scott)
McKenzie, Patricia (Scott) passed away peacefully on Monday morning, March 30, 2009. She leaves behind her devoted husband of sixty-six years, Stuart. Pat and Stu shared a love and marriage that not only endured the test of time, but inspired all who knew them. They spent the majority of their adult years in Newport Beach where they were long-time members of the Newport Harbor Yacht Club. Pat was the Commodore of Mother Sabots and was active in that organization for over thirty-five years. Pat and Stu loved to travel together: camping with their children in Yosemite, traveling by RV throughout the Southwest, and enjoying the beauty and nature of New Mexico and Colorado. Pat loved to read, to laugh, and to care for her family.
Patricia was born in Tacoma, Washington on May 12, 1921, and moved to California at an early age. She was raised in Beverly Hills and graduated from Beverly Hills High. She attended UCLA (Class of 1943). While at UCLA, she was the Vice President of the Freshman Class, a member of Spurs, Shell and Oar, Alpha Chi Omega, and an A.W.S. Class Officer her senior year. It was at UCLA that she met the love of her life, Stuart. She and Stu remained devoted Bruins.
Patricia was unfortunately preceded in death by her second son, Christopher. She is no doubt sad to leave her family behind, but happy – at long last – to be reunited with Chris. She is survived by her husband, Stuart; her sons, Stuart (Sally) and Terry (Laurie); eight grandchildren, David (Michelle), Michele (Tim), Kelly, Allison, Janel, Cara, Andrew and Ian; five great-grandchildren, Tyler, Marissa, Joshua, Akemi and Christopher; all of whom will profoundly miss her smile, her kindness, and most of all her spirit.
Memorial Mass will be held on May 9, 2009, at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Mount Carmel in Newport Beach.
