Dent left in fourth round after loss to No. 2 Federer
MIAMI — Taylor Dent, a former Corona del Mar High standout, squandered eight break point chances against No. 2-ranked Roger Federer and was eliminated in the fourth round of the Sony Ericsson Open Tuesday.
Federer ousted the No. 467th ranked player trying to make a comeback, 6-3, 6-2, in the pair’s first meeting. Dent, who peaked at No. 21 in August 2005, had been sidelined for much of the past three years with a back injury that required two surgeries in 2007. The 27-year-old reached the Sony Ericsson Open quarterfinals on his last main draw appearance in 2005.
