Mariners Christian School is Victorious in CALOC Div. 1 Championship

Congratulations to Mariners Christian School’s sixth grade boys’ basketball team for their victory in the CALOC Division 1 Championship game against Harbor Day School. The two teams went into overtime, and MCS won by a score of 61-58. It was an impressive showing from both schools in a game that could have gone either way.

MCS Coach Mac Thompson had the following statement about the game and victory: “Our hats go off to Harbor Day. They played an incredible game of basketball tonight. I’m also very proud of my team for keeping their composure throughout the game. We were chasing Harbor Day for most of the game, and then at the end, we made some critical plays which forced the overtime. It was a well-earned victory tonight which capped off an undefeated season.”

Outstanding play from Mariners players included Jake Haar with 21 points and Matthew Marchiorlatti with 18pts. Nick Whitelaw, Justin Hess, and David Schaeffer all made big plays. Peter Seidner, Walker Thurston, John Mooers, and Kellen Neighbors all made valuable contributions to the team win. Mariners Christian went 12-0 during the season which included the CALOC championship tournament victory.
