Passport Day to inform travelers of new rules
The U.S. Postal Service will celebrate Passport Day in the USA today at several Orange County locations to provide passport information to U.S. citizens and to accept passport applications. The Newport Beach Post Office, 1133 Camelback St., is participating in the event and is open from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Beginning in June, new travel regulations will require U.S. citizens to present a passport book, card or other travel documents approved by the U.S. government in order to enter the U.S. from Canada, Mexico, the Caribbean and Bermuda land borders. Passport cards cannot be used for international air travel.
Passport photos can be taken at the event for $15. Applicants must bring proof of citizenship and proof of identity.
