Edison’s Warde named to All-CIF’s first team
Edison High junior Danielle Warde has been named first-team All-CIF Southern Section for Division I girls’ water polo
Her Edison teammate Monique Wilson is second-team All-Division I and Fountain Valley senior goalie Amanda Young earned third-team accolades.
Also, in Sunset League all-league recognition, Warde and Wilson earned first-team honors, as did Young and Barons junior Danica Fascella.
The CIF teams are selected by the Southern California Water Polo Coaches Assn.
Warde, a driver, had 83 goals, 68 steals and 39 assists this year for Edison (21-11). Her season-high was five goals, and she reached that mark six different times.
A defender, Wilson had 69 goals, 66 steals and 41 assists for the Chargers. For Fountain Valley (20-9), Young had 238 saves and Fascella had 23 goals.
In other Sunset League recognition, Chargers junior goalie Clair Babinski, sophomore Haley Kunert and freshman Alys Williams earned second-team honors, as did Fountain Valley sophomore Marisa Young and freshman Kayla Robert.
