Dad allegedly hits off-duty sheriff

A father was seen putting his daughter in a headlock and pulling her hair to get her to leave a church in the 9800 block of Hamilton Avenue at 12:26 p.m. Sunday. The man swung punches at an off-duty sheriff who tried to intercede. His daughter was taken to another room with a teacher until police arrived.

Lynn Street at Warner Avenue: A taxi driver said someone exiting a bar threw a stone at their windshield and broke it at 1:50 a.m. Sunday.

Brimhall Lane: A man said his 14-year-old daughter and her two friends were walking home when they were invited by a neighbor to come into his house to celebrate his 21st birthday in the 16200 block at 4:19 p.m. Sunday.

Beach Boulevard: An employee was passed a false $100 bill in the 16600 block at 8:37 p.m. Sunday.

Clearview Circle: A man rang someone’s doorbell, but the resident was unable to speak to the man due to a language barrier in the 18600 block at 3:39 a.m. Sunday. The man then apparently vandalized the resident’s yard.

Friesland Drive: A resident was concerned about their neighbor, who said he would put the caller’s dog in the microwave, in the 8300 block at 10:27 a.m. Sunday.

Ellis Avenue: A man said his ex-girlfriend’s grandfather punched him and knocked his tooth out in the 8100 block at 2:47 p.m. Sunday. The grandfather previously told the caller he was going to shoot him.

Slater Avenue at Morgan Lane: A man was seen tagging “SS” on a brick wall at 3:07 p.m. Sunday.

Tilburg Drive: Someone reported that an eighth-grade student is continually beaten up by another student at a school in the 5600 block at 3:51 p.m. Sunday.

Pacific Coast Highway: Guests who were evicted from a resort vandalized its restroom in the 21000 block at 2:22 a.m. Sunday.

Knoxville Avenue: A vehicle was found to have swear words written in wax on it, with slashed tires and a damaged window, in the 700 block at 8:24 a.m. Sunday.

Delaware Street: Someone discovered that the phrase “Smoke Crack Everyday” and a swastika had been spray-painted on a slide at a youth facility in the 2300 block at 9:34 a.m. Sunday.

Delaware Street: Someone complained about the condition of two boarding houses in which several elderly people live and chickens are kept in cages in the 2500 block at 12:43 p.m. Sunday.

Florida Street: Several residents reported hearing a loud gunshot in the 2400 block at 3:31 p.m. Sunday.

Pacific Coast Highway: Several callers said a trash can was on fire in the 400 block beginning at 3:32 p.m. Sunday.

Utica Avenue: A female caller came home and found her windows were broken out in the 500 block at 3:45 p.m. Sunday. She was worried it was her estranged husband, who has allegedly threatened to kill her, but then hung up because she wanted to be anonymous.

Huntington Beach Pier: A man who put together a kite event at the pier said people took 100 of his kite stakes and used them for their bonfires at 8:34 p.m. Sunday.

Beach Boulevard: A gas station customer hit a gas pump with their vehicle and drove away in the 20000 block at 12:27 a.m. Sunday.

Beach Boulevard at Adams Avenue: A Dodge Charger’s window was found smashed at 12:27 a.m. Sunday.

Charwood Lane: A resident discovered someone got a credit card and bought a Sprint phone with their personal information in the 20900 block at 8:28 a.m. Sunday.

Pawtucket Drive: A woman said her 62-year-old boyfriend had just stolen her sedan in the 8100 block at 9:25 a.m. Sunday. When advised that her boyfriend would be removed from the car at gunpoint and arrested, the woman said she was sure she wanted to prosecute him.

Farnsworth Lane: A girl left the house after her father forbade her from going to church in the 20600 block at 11:57 a.m. Sunday.

Brookhurst Street: A bicycle was discovered stolen in the 21500 block at 2:51 p.m. Sunday.

Kenyon Lane at Cliffwood Drive: Juveniles were seen smoking out of a bong in a car at 3:34 p.m. Sunday.

Cornwall Drive at Bushard Street: A group of male teens got into a fight at 4:35 p.m. Sunday.

Lavonne Lane: A resident observed a homeless man sitting in the bushes outside her home making a camp in the 20600 block at 5:20 p.m. Sunday.

Santa Lucia Street: Fireworks disturbed the peace at a residence in the 17200 block at 4:16 p.m. Sunday.

Santa Suzanne Street: Vandalism was reported at a school in the 17300 block at 4:55 p.m. Sunday.

Santa Catherine Street: A vehicle burglary was reported in the 17100 block at 6:50 p.m. Sunday.

Live Oak Circle: Evidence of auto tampering was found in the 17500 block at 11:42 a.m. Sunday.

Warner Avenue: Vandalism was reported at a school in the 9600 block at 8:40 a.m. Monday.

Brookhurst Street: Police were asked to keep the peace at a grocery store in the 16000 block at 9:05 a.m. Monday.

Slater Avenue: A case of identity theft was reported in the 10400 block at 3:20 p.m. Sunday.

Thistle Avenue: A domestic dispute occurred at a residence in the 9900 block at 11:22 a.m. Sunday.

La Tierra Circle: Grand theft was reported at a residence in the 9700 block at 11:24 a.m. Sunday.
