Michael Millikan, M.D. (August 5, 1933 - February 6, 2009)

was born on August 5, 1933 in Pasadena, CA, to Clark and Helen Staats Millikan. He was the grandson of Noble Prize Winning physicist Robert A. Millikan. After attending Polytechnic in Pasadena and Hotchkiss Preperatory School in Connecticut he later graduated from Yale University in 1955. He then went to Albany Medical School and after, became Chief Resident at LA County Hospital for three years. He opened his own practice as a general surgeon at Hoag Memorial Hospital in Newport Beach, and later went on to practice internal medicine at Las Encinas Hospital in Pasadena.

Michael died at his home on February 6 from congestive heart failure with his family by his side.

He is survived by his wife Jeanie Daniels Millikan and his 4 children Alden, Rick, Kimball and Dawn , three stepsons: Richard, William and Brett Valentine as well as 6 grandchildren Dylan, Katija, Mikhaila, Miles, Keenan and Kalae.

He loved sharing his historic home of 70 years on the Balboa Pennisula in Newport Beach with his family and friends with lots of good food, drink and a ton of laughs. In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer donations to go to the non-profit charity Doctors Without Borders
