Temple Bat Yahm will hosts its annual Mitzvah Day from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Sunday. More than 200 students ages 5 to 14 from the temple’s religious school programs participate in charitable projects during the event.

Among other service projects, the students and temple congregants will assemble gift packages for soldiers in Afghanistan and collect used sports equipment for needy children.

Cantor Jonathan Grant and his adult choir will present a program at Heritage Pointe, a Jewish retirement home in Mission Viejo as part of the event.
