Important meeting coming up
The first of two important dates set by the Laguna Beach High boys’ and girls’ track and field programs is Wednesday.
A parent meeting will begin at 6 p.m. at the North Gym on campus. The next key date is a Feb. 2 tryout for both teams. Students who currently are participating in other winter sports will be able to report for tryouts on Feb. 16.
Laguna’s boys’ team, coached by Scott Wittkop, has won consecutive Orange Coast League championships.
The girls’ squad, coached by Steve Lalim, was runner-up to the league title last year.
Little League registration to end
Laguna Beach Little League is still accepting online registration through Jan. 31 at www.beachbaseball.com. For more information, contact Jennifer Sweet.
Senior mixed doubles tennis now underway
Laguna Beach Senior Services is now offering mixed doubles senior tennis.
The Senior 55+ group will meet from 8 to 11 a.m. every Wednesday through March 25 at the Alta Laguna Park tennis courts. There is no charge to participate.
Sign-ups are on a first-come, first-serve basis and held at the courts. Space is limited. Participants are asked to bring their own tennis balls.
