Man charged with trying to have sex with 13-year-old

Huntington Beach police arrested a Los Angeles man Monday night after luring him with a bogus 13-year-old girl’s Craigslist posting.

Police arrested Jarone Ashkenazi, 19, after he responded to a posting created by detectives posing as the underage girl.

Ashkenazi was charged with offenses including arranging a meeting with a minor with the intent of committing lewd or lascivious acts and sex with the minor.

He communicated with detectives for about a month via e-mail and instant messenger, authorities said. They told him numerous times that the girl was 13 years old, but he still tried to forge a sexual relationship with her, authorities said.

Ashkenazi then made arrangements to meet with the 13-year-old girl to have sex with her, authorities said. He was apprehended in Huntington Beach at the arranged meeting place.
