H.B. woman receives Working Mom scholarship
Working mother Rebecca Peyrefitte has received a full ride to American Sentinel University, an accredited online university.
Peyrefitte was one of 57 out of more than 70,000 applicants to win the Project Working Mom 2 scholarship. While Peyrefitte was studying to become a licensed vocational nurse, her husband and son were killed in a car accident. Days later, her father died of a heart attack. Three days after the funeral, Peyrefitte finished her final classes and earned her certification.
Now she is the single mother of a daughter, and has passed her board exams to become a registered nurse. She works in the neonatal intensive care unit of a local hospital. She will pursue a bachelor’s in nursing.
