Parisi has treasurer spot to herself
Laura Parisi is running unopposed for reelection as city treasurer, a part-time paid position she has held for nine years.
Parisi was appointed to fill out the term of retiring City Treasurer Susan Morse in 1999 and ran for office in 2000 and 2004 unopposed.
Parisi is a certified public accountant and certified California Municipal Treasurer.
The position has a salary of $68,900 a year for a 25-hour week, which Parisi has sought to be increased to full-time status with a higher hourly wage.
“I am looking forward to another term as city treasurer and am honored to represent the voters of Laguna Beach during these difficult times,” Parisi said. “The experiences gained from 28 years as a financial manager will assist me in navigating the economic turbulence that lies ahead.
“Prior to my nine years as city treasurer and three years as legislative chair for California Municipal Treasurers’ Assn., CMTA, I had 20 years of senior financial management experience in industry.
“I am a CPA who began her career with PricewaterhouseCoopers, Chicago.”
