Memorial fundraiser to teach safety, CPR basics

Corona del Mar High School will host a fundraiser in memory of former student Kevin Hoffman 2 to 6 p.m. Nov. 1.

Participants will join the Newport Fire Department, lifeguards, CPR instructor Denise Weiland, nurse Annette Dunn, pediatrician Patricia Riba and pediatric cardiologist Rick Swensson to learn the signs and symptoms of a heart attack, risk factors, hydration, nutrition, exercise, supplements and the basics of CPR.

Admission is free, but donations will be accepted to help pay medical expenses for Hoffman, who died of a heart attack earlier this year.
