Local race for cure on Sunday
The 2008 Orange County Race for the Cure will be from 6:30 a.m. to noon Sunday at Fashion Island.
The event celebrates breast cancer survivors and honors those who have lost their battle with the disease.
The local venue will be the Pacific Life building at 700 Newport Center Drive, Newport Beach.
The women’s 5K walk will be from 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. The one-mile fun walk will be from 8 to 8:30 a.m. The breast cancer survivor tribute will be from 9 to 9:30 a.m., and a coed 5K run/walk will be from 9:45 to 11 a.m.
There is a $30 fee for adults to participate; cancer survivors pay $25, as do youths ages 17 and younger and seniors 65 and older.
A “Sleep In for the Cure” charge of $35 includes a race T-shirt and bib, which will be mailed after the event.
A $500 “In the Pink” VIP program is $500, and includes a special parking pass, apparel item, pin and access to the VIP area. For more information, call (714) 957-9157, ext. 27.
