Wacholder and Turner won three matches and lost one before giving up the forfeit in their fifth match.

The No. 1 women’s team of Misty May-Treanor/Kerri Walsh won their fourth consecutive “” and fifth overall “” Manhattan Beach title. The two-time reigning Olympic gold medalists had to come through the Contender’s bracket to do so and swept the No. 4 team of Jen Boss/April Ross, 21-18, 21-16, in Sunday’s final.

In the men’s final Saturday, the No. 1 team of Phil Dalhausser/Todd Rogers won the coveted Manhattan Beach title by defeating No. 3 Nick Lucena / Sean Scott, 21-16, 21-16.

The pair becomes just the fourth team “” joining legendary beach volleyball teams of Mike O’Hara/Mike Bright, Mike Dodd/Tim Hovland and Karch Kiraly/Kent Steffes “” to win three straight Manhattan Beach titles.

“If you know your history of volleyball, those are the names on the beach.” Rogers said.
