Local squads fit to be tied
An all-Huntington Beach battle took place Saturday in Pop Warner Football and four quarters couldn’t decide a winner in Midget Division action at Edison High.
The Green Chargers and Gold Chargers played to a scoreless tie and the result left the Green Chargers with their third consecutive shutout.
Donald Rice, Elijah Herrera and Everett Gilliam had fumble recoveries for the Green Chargers.
The Green Chargers travel to Santa Margarita to face the undefeated Mustangs at noon Saturday.
Jr. Midget Division
Huntington 27, Hacienda-La Puente 0: A kickoff return for a touchdown by Trevor Borkowski sent the Green Chargers on their way to an easy win over the Wildcats.
Following Borkowski’s score was a 25-yard touchdown pass from Brodie Barton to Dylan Luther that increased Huntington’s lead to 12-0. A field goal by Jack Lowary made it 15-0 at the half.
In the fourth quarter, Tyler MacLeod and Peter Russo rushed for touchdowns, with Russo scoring on a 30-yard run.
The Green Chargers, now 4-0, next take on the Yorba Linda Cougars (3-0-1) at 7 p.m. Saturday at Valley View Sports Park in Yorba Linda.
Jr. Pee Wee Division
Huntington 12, Long Beach 0: The Gold Chargers defense limited Long Beach to 21 yards of offense to record a shutout victory.
Tustin 18, Huntington 0: Keith McCord had an interception and Alec Lowman blocked a conversion kick to highlight the Green Chargers’ defensive effort against the Black Cobras.
Huntington travels to Cypress for a 3 p.m. game Saturday with the Centurions.
Mighty Mite Division
Huntington 30, Norwalk 0: The Chargers continued their undefeated season with an impressive win over the Titans.
Seth Williams, Irvin Mataia and Seth Carpenter had key runs and Bryson Betty and Kyle Drinnon teamed for a 20-yard pass play.

Huntington 20, Whittier 0: Arick McLawyer rushed for a pair of touchdowns and Cameron Dashiell ran for one as the host Oilers blanked the Trojans at Huntington Beach High on Saturday.
Zane Webster, Christian Davis and Shane Hammer had big games defensively for Huntington, which hosts the South Bay Packers at 9 a.m. Saturday at Huntington Beach High.
Future League
Baldwin Hills 36, Huntington 20: Sam Rovano scored all three touchdowns for Huntington and quarterbacks Treyce Warren and Zachary Italasano also gave strong performances in the loss to the Bruins on Saturday.
Jr. Pee Wee Division
Corona 18, Huntington 7: Daniel Schulze scored the lone Huntington touchdown and Steve Hernandez added a the conversion run.
Craig Dean, Scotty Tull, Kodi Reyes, Kellen Stazenski, Gino Zarrella and Brandon Ezell also made key contributions for the Oilers, who dropped their second game of the season.
